OPEN SAUNA MAPAitolahti Church, named Suojamuuri ("Protective Wall"), is a modern red-brick church building in which nature, light and symbolism intertwine. It is located in the Olkahinen district and was consecrated for use in September 2001. The church was built adjoining the red-brick parish hall designed by architect Pentti Turunen in 1980, and the old premises now serve youth and children's work. The materials of the church space are brick, glass and steel, and its dominant element is a massive red-brick wall. Large windows open onto nature, and the floor is black granite while the wooden parts are heat-treated birch. The building also includes a gym, a sauna and fireplace room section, and workshop spaces. The site has an accessible entrance, an accessible WC, an induction loop and a baby care station. Parking is available in the inner courtyard, which has accessible access.
