OPEN SAUNA MAP

Skjulstabastun is a historic sauna facility located in the scenic Skjulsta outdoor recreation area in Eskilstuna, situated along the banks of the Eskilstuna River. Operated by the non-profit association Andelsföreningen Gymnasternas sportstuga since 1944, the venue offers year-round opportunities for sauna bathing and swimming. The facility features two distinct saunas, known as the large and small saunas, which accommodate different groups and intensity levels throughout the week. The heat experience varies significantly depending on the time of day; early afternoon sessions offer a milder heat around 80 degrees Celsius, while late afternoons increase to approximately 90 degrees. On Tuesday and Friday evenings after 18:30, the large sauna offers an extreme experience with ultra-high humidity. Sundays are designated for mixed-gender bathing in the large sauna, requiring swimwear, while the small sauna remains exclusively for women during this time. Visitors are expected to follow strict hygiene and safety regulations, including a mandatory shower before bathing, the use of a sitting pad on the benches, and a complete ban on alcohol and smoking within the area. Payment for entry can be made via Swish or cash, with options for single tickets or discounted multi-visit cards. Outside of public hours, the saunas are available for private rental, allowing groups of up to 30 people to book the facilities with the assistance of a sauna host.
