Perched on the dunes at Elie Harbour, Elie Seaside Sauna offers a traditional wood-fired sauna experience with panoramic views of Woodhaven Bay and the Firth of Forth. The location features two saunas, 'Dune' and 'Shore', both offering direct access to the sea for cold water swimming. The facility is off-grid and focuses on the connection with nature and community. The Original Elie Seaside Sauna was the sauna that kicked-off the sauna movement in Scotland, when it opened, during a heatwave, in the summer of 2022. Back then, Elie Seaside Sauna was the only public seaside sauna in Scotland. Others were inspired and followed, but Elie Seaside Sauna, remains the longest running owner-operated, public seaside sauna, in Scotland. Along with its sister saunas, St. Andrews Seaside Sauna, on East Sands, St. Andrews and Cellardyke Seaside Sauna, at Cellardyke Tidal Pool, near Anstruther, also in Fife, Elie Seaside Sauna operates under the Scottish Seaside Sauna operation, owned and managed by, sauna pioneer, Judith Dunlop. Together these saunas were the first saunas in Scotland to receive Approved Sauna Operator status from The British Sauna Association.
